MS-DOS 6.22

Before Windows, most computers ran on something called DOS, short for Disk Operating System. There were no icons and no mouse, just a black screen with a blinking cursor, and you typed commands to tell the computer what to do, like DIR to list your files or COPY to copy one. Microsoft’s version, MS-DOS, came out in 1981 and ran most of the world’s PCs for more than a decade.

That’s where I started. One of my first tech jobs was teaching MS-DOS to senior Naval officers, and I’ve been explaining tech to people ever since. Now it’s AI, and the job is still the same: take something that looks confusing and make it make sense. So I guess that makes me a DOS to AI guy.
